Although it may look like some regular old tavern, Bentley’s Tavern in Malta, NY was nothing short of amazing!
My family friend was visiting from Ohio, and we were in the mood for some burgers and wings. Recently, we had eaten at The Rusty Nail in Clifton Park off of Route 9, which happened to be one of Bentley’s two sister restaurants. We loved the food from The Rusty Nail, so we decided to give Bentley’s a shot.
A reservation didn’t even cross our mind until we walked in with a party of seven on a busy Friday night. However, the hostesses were very friendly, and got us promptly seated.
The restaurant had a main dining area, with booths for dinner service surrounding the bar in the center. There were two other dining rooms off either side of the main area, including one that could be closed off for a private event.
When we ate at The Rusty Nail prior to this, they had the best chicken wings we’ve ever tasted in the Capital Region. Therefore, we had to order a few rounds of chicken wings for the table for comparison. My family ordered a variety of different things for their entrees, including pizza, fish and chips, salad, and of course, burgers, while I decided to order the Tavern Fare Mac and Cheese.
Our wings arrived shortly after we ordered, and they were astounding. As I bit into the wing, my taste buds went crazy. The wings were full of flavor, and the chicken was tender and juicy. I was thoroughly impressed.
Later on, our dinner entrees arrived, and my mac and cheese was absolutely wonderful. The melted cheese was gooey and flavorful, and it trapped the warmth, keeping the shells a perfect temperature. However, between the wings and tasting some of the other food my family ordered, I had to box some of it up to bring home.
I would recommend this restaurant to others in the area, especially those who want to go out and have a casual night with family or friends. Bentley’s Tavern has a great atmosphere with amazing food, and I can’t wait to go back!
